AT TOWNSHIP HALL 7:00 PM JANUARY 14, 15

15-0001-01 Chippewa Township Trustees opposition to proposed location
of the NEXUS Gas Transmission Pipeline Project in Chippewa Township (CONTINUED)
WHEREAS, DTE Energy Co. and Spectra Energy Corporation, the lead developers of the NEXUS Gas Transmission Pipeline Project, have informed the Chippewa Township 15-
Trustees of the proposed interstate natural gas pipeline expansion project which would increase energy supplies to the upper U.S. Midwest and Ontario, Canada, and a general study corridor which was under consideration for the proposed NEXUS Gas Transmission Project; and
WHEREAS, Spectra Energy Corporation has made a goal and commitment to positively impact the communities where they operate and where their employees live; and to environmental stewardship in which their core values include respect for the individual, community investment, open communication and commitment to safety; and
THEREFORE, the Chippewa Township Trustees would not oppose the proposed NEXUS Gas Transmission Pipeline Project and all the opportunities of providing gas to the upper U.S. Midwest and Ontario, Canada if it would be in a less populated area; and
WHEREAS, in not opposing the proposed interstate NEXUS Gas Transmission Pipeline Project, the Chippewa Township Trustees do oppose the proposed location of the pipeline running through Chippewa Township in which the pipeline would reduce property values and not provide energy needs to the residents of Chippewa Township, Wayne County, Ohio; and
THEREFORE, the Chippewa Township Trustees request the pipeline be routed on a more southern trajectory avoiding the heavily populated counties of NE Ohio and make use of routes less invasive to personal property and more considerate to populated neighborhoods thereby mitigating the hardship on Township property owners and irrecoverable damage to Chippewa Township, Wayne County, Ohio; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Chippewa Township Trustees oppose the proposed NEXUS Gas Transmission Pipeline Project location and urge Spectra Energy Corporation lead developers of the NEXUS Gas Transmission Project to remember their goals and commitment to positively impact communities, have respect for the individual property
owners overall and reconsider locating the pipeline to other less populated areas to minimize the total disruption and negative effect to fewer property owners throughout northeast Ohio and Chippewa Township, Wayne County, Ohio.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution shall be filed as a statement before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, members of Ohio House of Representatives and United States Congress, DTE Energy and Mr. Greg Ebel, President & CEO Spectra Energy Corporation.
